PRS Guitars has introduced the S2 Special Semi-Hollow Reclaimed Limited Edition, with production limited to 700 guitars in 2025. The model uses reclaimed and salvaged woods sourced from Brazil and Puerto Rico.

The guitar has a Peroba Rosa top, a Cuban mahogany neck and a Guaribu fretboard. The top wood was previously used as siding in Brazil. Some neck wood came from trees blown down by Hurricane Maria in Puerto Rico in 2017. The fretboard wood was used in Brazilian house beams.

The instruments have a natural color and satin nitro finish. Nail holes, wear and discoloration remain visible in the top wood.

Specifications include a 22-fret neck, a 25-inch scale length, the Pattern Regular neck profile and a humbucker/Narrowfield/humbucker pickup configuration. A five-way blade switch and two mini-toggle switches provide 12 pickup combinations. The switches allow players to tap the humbuckers.

Longtime PRS wood buyer Michael Reid sourced the materials. The release is part of the company’s series of product launches during its 40th anniversary year.
