Push and Groove has released MICRONIX, a free monophonic software synthesizer for Mac and Windows, Synthtopia reported. The plugin is built on open-source DSP code from Mutable Instruments Plaits, licensed under the MIT License, and is independently developed without affiliation or endorsement from Mutable Instruments.
Synthtopia reports that MICRONIX brings a range of synthesis techniques into a DAW plugin, with additional modulation and MIDI features for shaping sounds and performing basslines, leads, percussion, and experimental textures. The synthesizer is available now for free for Mac and Windows.
The report notes that Push and Groove also offers a paid Pro version, with one user commenting that they purchased the Pro after trying the free plugin. That user reported an issue in Logic where the plugin becomes unresponsive and requires closing and reopening, which they said they have reported to the developer.
The user described the free version as having a simple layout and being good for experimentation. MICRONIX incorporates Mutable Instruments Plaits DSP code, providing producers and sound designers with a no-cost software instrument option based on established open-source DSP technology.
