Rob Papen Inspiration Soundware has released WirePluck, a 16-voice synthesizer plug-in designed for plucked sounds. It combines three oscillator layers, each with a choice of four synthesis sources and its own output routing.
The sources are Wire, a newly developed source resembling a struck wire; String, which uses Karplus-Strong physical modeling; FM, a three-operator phase modulation synthesizer with a pitch envelope for each oscillator; and Wave, a single-oscillator subtractive synthesis source. The Wave section includes 26 filter types.
WirePluck has a main view for editing commonly used parameters and selecting arpeggiator presets, plus an advanced view with access to all parameters. Effects include distortion, modulation effects, stereo delay and reverb based on the RP-VERB algorithm.
Additional features include an arpeggiator with ratchet mode and per-step chord control, chord memory, eight modulation slots and a ribbon controller with a tempo-based spring-back function. A manager view provides access to presets by Papen and other sound designers.
The announced price is $49 or 49 euros. The plug-in supports 64-bit AAX, AU, VST and VST3 formats on compatible Mac systems and AAX, VST and VST3 on compatible Windows systems. WirePluck is also included in the eXplorer-10 bundle at no additional cost to its owners.
