Roland has released firmware version 1.5 for the TR-1000 Rhythm Creator, introducing several new features designed to enhance melodic sequencing, sound design, and live performance capabilities, according to Synthtopia. The complimentary update provides users with expanded options for creating pitched parts and managing transitions during live shows.

The new firmware incorporates a NOTE parameter for compatible sound generators, allowing users to specify pitch in semitones alongside traditional drum patterns. A KEYBOARD play mode transforms the step buttons into a playable interface for compatible sounds, offering two playing configurations and built-in scale options. Additionally, fifty FM instruments from the TR-8S library have been integrated into the TR-1000's sound palette.

Four new multi-effects, including Roll, Roll 2, Rev Pan Delay, and SBF-325, are also included in the update. The SBF-325 effect is further available as an insert effect, expanding the options for individual sound processing. A new COARSE parameter is now accessible for all FM sound generators.
