Lighting designer Davy Sherwin incorporated 26 Chauvet Professional COLORado PXL Curve 12 battens into Snow Patrol’s three-show engagement at London’s Royal Albert Hall.

The late-September performances marked the 20th anniversary of the band’s album “Eyes Open.” Supplied by Lights Control Rigging, the motorized battens followed the curved edge of the stage below the video screen. Their placement helped carry the screen’s visual treatment into the lighting around the performers.

Sherwin used the fixtures’ movement, zoom and individual pixels to build looks that worked with the video content. The design included subdued brown and gray tones as well as brighter colors, keeping the stage and screen within a coordinated visual palette.

Robin Haddow of Shadow Projects worked on the D3 and Notch elements. The production also involved Chris Richmond of Atticus Finch on content and Mike Wilson on Notch programming. The configuration gave Sherwin a continuous line of fixtures along the stage while retaining control over individual sections and effects.
