Soundtrap has added support for third-party VST effects plug-ins in its desktop application. Creators can use professional effects plug-ins they have licensed, then listen to the results across mobile, tablet and web sessions and in shared Soundtrap projects.

The update allows collaborators to hear processing in real time rather than exporting tracks or stems and passing files between participants. Soundtrap’s built-in video calls can be used alongside a shared session for feedback while recording or producing a take.

Soundtrap is partnering with Antares for the launch, offering users a free month of Auto-Tune. Support for virtual instrument plug-ins was described as planned for later in the year.

The feature expands the effects available within Soundtrap’s collaborative music production workflow while allowing participants to use their licensed desktop tools.
