Norwegian software developer Acon Digital has launched Acoustica 8, describing the release as the most significant update in the company’s history. According to a report by MusicRadar, the new version integrates advanced machine learning algorithms across its editing, mastering and restoration suite to address technical challenges faced by audio professionals.
MusicRadar notes that the update overhauls the DeNoise and DeHum modules with machine learning power while streamlining interfaces for clipping removal tools. The release also introduces Extract:Dialogue 2 for granular control over voice and noise elements, alongside AudioFill technology designed to intelligently close gaps in audio content with natural repairs.
The application now supports immersive audio formats up to 9.1.6 channels, including Dolby Atmos, though MusicRadar indicates this feature is excluded from the entry-level Standard edition. The software runs as a standalone application or via AU, VST3 and AAX plugins with added ARA2 support. Acon Digital CEO Joel Heatley told MusicRadar that the tiered pricing structure aims to combine high-end tools with competitive industry pricing, with editions ranging from $149 to $499. This launch reinforces Acon Digital’s position in the specialized audio software market against competitors leveraging similar artificial intelligence technologies.
