Seymour Duncan has introduced a Janick Gers signature Strat pickup set and loaded pickguard, expanding its Iron Maiden pickup lineup to mark the band’s 50th anniversary, according to Guitar.com.
The set pairs a JB Jr. for Strat in the neck and bridge positions with a Hot Rails for Strat in the middle, a configuration Seymour Duncan says delivers the lead tone and rhythm crunch Gers brings to Iron Maiden’s live performances. The loaded pickguard option offers the same pickup combination.
The Gers set joins the existing Dave Murray signature Strat set and loaded pickguard and the Steve Harris signature P-Bass pickup in the range. The Murray set reverses the layout, using Hot Rails in the neck and bridge with a JB Jr. in the middle. The Harris P-Bass pickup is a medium-output design with hand-ground Alnico 5 rod magnets, wax potted to reduce noise, and serves as a drop-in replacement for split-coil P-Bass pickups.
Every pickup set and loaded pickguard in the collection now ships in individually illustrated packaging featuring Eddie, Iron Maiden’s mascot. Seymour Duncan is positioning the boxes as collector’s pieces, with each presenting a different take on the band’s official artwork.
