Cologne nightclub Bootshaus has upgraded its main floor with a new 360-degree L-Acoustics DJ system featuring an 8.1.7 A Series loudspeaker configuration. According to AVNetwork, the installation marks the venue’s 22nd anniversary and replaces traditional stereo setups to provide immersive spatial audio for over 200,000 annual visitors.
AVNetwork reports that Bootshaus COO Niclas Aigner initiated the project after experiencing the technology at the Amsterdam Dance Event, citing its precision and impact as key drivers for the investment. The strategic shift prioritizes sound quality to differentiate the venue in a competitive market and attract elite artists, aligning with managing director Tom Thomas’s philosophy.
The system utilizes the L-ISA Processor II and Source Separate technology to isolate discrete stems from stereo tracks in real time, allowing dynamic positioning of musical elements without altering DJ workflows. AVNetwork details the hardware overhaul, which includes two main hangs of A15 Wide and Focus enclosures, six additional side and rear hangs, seven X12 coaxial overhead units, and three LA7.16i amplified controllers. The setup debuted in June with performances by Holy Priest and Don Diablo, delivering high sound pressure levels while distributing vocals and melodies throughout the room.
