The 6388 CORE+ features an unconventional physical design and a shifted acoustic axis for the microphone capsule. This configuration, paired with controlled proximity effect, aims to minimize the impact of precise positioning and maintain sound consistency, even with slight adjustments. The supercardioid microphone will be showcased at IBC 2026 in Amsterdam.
Engineers noted that headset microphones are often used in challenging environments that demand high performance and natural sound. DPA asserts that the 6388 CORE+ seeks to resolve limitations in existing designs. The device incorporates the company’s CORE+ technology and offers switchable boom placement, along with an asymmetrical capsule design.
