The company has recreated the instrument using 3D scans of the original model, ensuring high fidelity to the iconic design. This latest replica joins a series of previous versions, including the 2009 Custom Shop VOS run, which featured aging by Tom Murphy and signatures from Gibbons himself.
The Pearly Gates has long been a legendary instrument in the music world, known for its distinctive tone and rich history. Gibbons acquired the guitar in 1968 from a rancher near Houston for $250, after being tipped off by John Wilson of The Magic Ring about a potential trade.
The new replica is expected to command serious attention in the vintage market, following the success of earlier models. Previous attempts at replication have already demonstrated the guitar's enduring appeal and value among collectors and musicians alike.
