ILIO and Delta Sound Labs have introduced Stream Pro, a granular synthesis plug-in that transforms audio recordings into playable polyphonic instruments, evolving pads and ambient textures. The instrument is a separate product from the original Stream effect and is listed at $99.
Designed for composers, producers and sound designers, Stream Pro provides independent time and pitch control, per-voice effects and three-dimensional spatial audio. Granular synthesis breaks audio into small fragments and recombines them, allowing a recorded instrument, vocal phrase or field recording to take on a different musical role.
Single Mode turns recordings into pads, textures and atmospheres. Independent time and pitch control lets users slow a recording without lowering its pitch, while real-time scrubbing helps isolate particular moments in a sample.
Multi Mode makes samples playable across a keyboard, with polyphonic grain engines, velocity sensitivity and MIDI tracking. Musicians can perform melodies and chords with their own recordings, shaping the result through the notes they play.
Per-voice effects and distortion give individual notes their own tonal character. Stream Pro's spatializer uses Steam Audio's HRTF processing to position voices for headphone listening, including separate positions for notes in Multi Mode. The instrument supports MPE and is offered in VST3, Audio Units and standalone formats for macOS, Windows and Linux.
