Heritage Audio has released a native version of its HA1200 TapeSat plug-in, modeled on a 16-channel Ampex MM-1200 tape recorder owned by company CEO Peter Rodríguez. The effect was previously available as a DSP plug-in for the company’s i73 Pro interfaces.
The plug-in has five controls: Input, Speed, Tape, Level and Output. The Tape selector offers five models based on new old stock tape formulations: 250, 456, 499, 911 and GP9. The models provide different saturation and tonal characteristics for processing vocals, synthesizers, guitars and other sources.
The native version is supplied at no additional cost to owners of i73 Pro family products and is added to their plug-in collections through their Heritage Audio user accounts. The announced price for other users is $99 or 99 euros.
HA1200 TapeSat supports 64-bit AAX, AU and VST3 formats on macOS 10.15.7 or later, including Intel and Apple silicon computers, and Windows 10 and 11. Activation requires an iLok account. A fully functional trial runs for 14 days after activation. The plug-in is available through the company’s online user portal.
