A lighting upgrade at the Cutty Sark in London retained an existing Pharos Architectural Controls controller, underscoring the long-term value of installed control platforms in heritage venues. LSi Online reported that the project, completed in early 2026, saw Architainment Lighting work with DHA Designs and SI Electrical to refresh lighting across the ship’s main deck, hold deck and external dry berth supports.
The existing two-universe Pharos Designer LPC lighting controller was kept in place and integrated with the new installation, avoiding unnecessary infrastructure replacement. The Designer LPC 2 now controls DMX-controlled RGBW feature lighting and DALI-controlled functional lighting inside the hull and within the dry berth beneath the vessel, according to LSi Online.
Architainment Lighting carried out commissioning, ensuring the new scheme worked with the established Pharos platform. The system also integrates with the museum’s centralised management system for coordinated control. Neil Gamble, sales director at Architainment Lighting, said the existing controller provided a strong foundation, allowing new lighting integration without added complexity or disruption. Ryan Sainsbury, regional sales manager at Pharos Architectural Controls, noted that retaining the Designer LPC demonstrates the long-term value a robust control platform can bring to a project.
