XLN Audio has released version 2.0 of its RC-20 Retro Color vintage-texture effects plugin, Monthly Mixing reported. The main addition in this update is a new Echo module. It is a delay that places RC-20 itself inside the feedback loop, and turning on the Grains function creates ambient, granular textures.
The Codec module adds digital degradation effects such as packet loss and lossy compression. New tape, preamp, and 4-track cassette models have been added to the distortion module, and 32 new reverbs have been included.
Monthly Mixing reported that version 2.0 lets users move modules around freely. Filters that set the frequency range an effect applies to, tempo sync, loudness matching, undo history, oversampling, and improved preset management have also been added.
RC-20 Retro Color v2 is available in VST3, AU, and AAX formats on Windows and macOS. The launch price is $99, and existing RC-20 users can upgrade for $19 until January 12, 2027. More details are available on the XLN Audio website.
