Al-Aziz Al-Hakim Mosque in Cairo has finished a major audiovisual upgrade featuring equipment from JBL Professional, Crown, Soundcraft, and BSS. LSi Online reported that Audio Technology, the local Harman Professional distributor, delivered this integrated platform to support worship services, community gatherings, and broadcast applications. The system is designed to handle activities including daily prayers and Friday sermons while remaining discreet within the building architecture.
The project required a unified approach to overcome long reverberation times created by stone and marble surfaces. Architectural features limited equipment placement, necessitating carefully positioned loudspeakers that preserved visual integrity. Audio Technology designed the solution around JBL CBT Series column units for the main prayer hall. These units employ Constant Beamwidth Technology to direct sound toward the congregation and reduce reflections from walls and ceilings. Outdoor areas are served by JBL AWC Series all-weather models, replacing conventional horn speakers often found in similar setups.
The complete system includes Soundcraft digital mixing consoles managed through a BSS Soundweb platform with BLU-100 processors. Powered by Crown XLS and CDi DriveCore Series amplifiers, the networked architecture provides centralized routing and precise time alignment between indoor and outdoor zones. Since completion, mosque leadership and worshippers have noted noticeable improvements in speech intelligibility and overall performance, particularly during multilingual events and large gatherings requiring clear audio throughout the property.
