Low End Candy has announced Slingshot, a reverse delay plug-in that places echoes before a sound. The effect generates those echoes from the user's audio inside a host digital audio workstation, rather than requiring a printed delay tail to be reversed and moved into position.
In its default Aligned mode, Slingshot reports the lead-in to the DAW as latency, placing the echo train ahead of the transient and stopping it where the sound begins. Live mode provides zero-latency monitoring while tracking.
Capture lets users play a sound once and print the lead-in as a WAV file, trimmed to the transient and padded to a whole bar for placement on the grid. Feedback sets the number of repeats, while free or tempo-synced timing controls their spacing.
The plug-in offers Clean, Tape, Analog, Diffuse, Ping-Pong and Filtered delay characters. Forward, Reverse and Grain tap modes change how individual echoes are generated. Pitch and formant shaping can move independently or be linked, while Snap shapes transients on the wet signal.
Additional controls include drive, stereo width, reverb, a delay filter and modulation with eight targets. Slingshot includes 33 factory presets, user preset storage and a randomization button that preserves the delay filter and timing settings. The company describes it as a sister plug-in to Preverb, distinguishing separate reversed echoes from a reverse-reverb swell.
