Elektron has officially launched the Outbox 8, an eight-channel audio and control voltage breakout box designed to expand connectivity for its hardware synthesizer lineup. Priced at $349 in the United States, the new interface provides musicians and producers with dedicated bus outputs for complex live and studio configurations, according to reporting by gearnews.
The compact unit features eight impedance-balanced, DC-coupled quarter-inch outputs capable of handling audio or various CV signal types. It also functions as a standalone USB audio interface and MIDI-to-CV converter. However, compatibility varies significantly across the manufacturer’s catalog. While recent models like the Digitakt II and Syntakt support full in-device configuration, older units such as the Analog Rytm MKI require the Outbox 8 web app for setup.
Notably, gearnews reports that the Tonverk synthesizer currently suffers from high audio streaming latency and lacks in-device setup capabilities, contradicting earlier demonstrations at Superbooth 2026. Additionally, a Powerhub accessory spotted alongside the interface during the trade show is absent from this official release. The Outbox 8 includes a three-year warranty and ships with necessary cabling for immediate integration into existing Elektron ecosystems.
