Full Bucket Music has entered the software synthesis market with the release of FB3, a free plugin that digitally recreates the 1986 Kawai K3 and K3m hardware synthesizers. According to Monthly Mixing, this new product includes the original factory sounds while providing up to 64 voices of polyphony, a significant expansion over the capabilities of the vintage physical units. The German developer wrote the plugin in native C++ code to ensure low CPU usage across Windows and macOS systems.
The release supports VST, VST3, AU, AAX and CLAP formats, broadening distribution compatibility for digital audio workstations used by music producers. Monthly Mixing reports that the software interface functions as a dedicated programmer for owners of actual K3 hardware, allowing parameter editing via MIDI CC through a MIDI Learn feature. Additionally, the tool facilitates SysEx and user wave data import and export, enabling existing hardware users to migrate custom patches into the digital environment. This launch provides retailers and content creators with a cost-free option for accessing classic synthesis tones without requiring scarce vintage inventory.
