Publisher Genesis is launching a limited-edition book by Alex Van Halen that bundles a previously unreleased 1974 demo track. According to reporting by Guitar.com, the new song titled Glitter represents the earliest officially released recording by the band and features the original lineup including Eddie Van Halen, Alex Van Halen, David Lee Roth, and bassist Mark Stone. The audio arrives on a 7-inch picture disc packaged exclusively with the signed, numbered edition of the book Van Halen. The release is strictly limited to 1,500 copies worldwide. A portion of these units are presented as special collector boxed sets featuring unique binding materials and decorative page edging.

The accompanying volume draws from private archives to document the group’s history from childhood through their 1978 debut album. Guitar.com notes the 312-page text includes unseen photography, correspondence, tour memorabilia, and musical equipment artifacts. This product launch coincides with recent auction activity where two Eddie Van Halen Kramer guitars sold for significant sums respectively. The book is available now for pre-order via Genesis. While specific design details vary among the numbered copies, the collector editions include distinct visual elements derived from the band’s historic 1978 world tour branding. The project offers fans a rare glimpse into the formative years of the legendary rock group through both audio and archival visual content.
