PRS Guitars and musician John Mayer have collaborated on a limited-edition series of Silver Sky guitars, inspired by Land Rover Defender SUV colors. The Silver Sky Defender Color Collection includes eight guitars: four featuring classic Defender colorways on US-made models and four with contemporary Defender colors on SE models. The US-made guitars are limited to 500 of each color. SE models will be available during a limited order window ending in midyear 2027. Guitars are available for preorder through Authorized PRS Dealers.
“Collaborating with Defender to offer the Silver Sky guitar in their colors is an exciting project,” said Mayer.
The collection’s design was inspired by Mayer’s Land Rover Defender, particularly his own vehicle’s Arles Blue color. His appreciation for the distinctive colors offered by the brand has found its way onto the Silver Sky guitars in unexpected details. The guitars feature plastics chosen to complement Defender configurations with contrasting black or white roofs. The result is a collection of Silver Skys with a distinctly Defender-inspired aesthetic, bringing together two designs in a way that feels natural to both.
The PRS Silver Sky and the Land Rover Defender are made to inspire exploration, whether through music or through terrain. They are also meant to demonstrate that design and color can combine to be a powerful expression of identity and personal taste.

The Silver Sky Defender Limited Edition is offered in Defender’s heritage colors, celebrating the brand’s rich heritage and the optimism, individuality, and character that has defined generations of classic vehicles. These guitars will have exclusive hard cases boasting the Defender wordmark, neckplates with the brand logo and the instrument’s color name indicated, and matching painted headstocks. Only 500 of each color will be available worldwide.
Colors include:
Arles Blue, inspired by open skies and coastal roads. Willow Green, reflecting the rural landscapes where Defender earned its reputation. Portofino Red, a confident color reflecting a generation of owners. Sandglow Yellow, inspired by past Trophy and Challenge events and the spirit of expedition travel.
