Ramrods, a UK-based manufacturer of handmade percussion rods, has ended its distribution partnership with Yamaha Music Europe to assume direct control of sales to British dealers. According to Music Instrument News, the brand will now be supplied directly by its owner, Percussion Technology Ltd. This strategic shift allows the company to bypass third-party logistics and engage more intimately with the retail sector.

Richard Horton, managing director at Ramrods, expressed gratitude to Yamaha for their early support but emphasized the move toward independent operations as reported by Music Instrument News. Marketing Director Tony Lythgoe stated that both parties agreed the brand benefits from a smaller, agile scale, enabling a hands-on relationship with the retailer community. Lythgoe noted this streamlined approach positions the company to respond faster to customer inquiries and market needs.

The change impacts how UK music stores procure these specialist tools, which are crafted in Warwickshire for volume control and tonal variety. By managing distribution internally, Ramrods aims to increase efficiency within the domestic percussion market. The manufacturer plans to showcase its products and new distribution model at the upcoming UK Drum Show in Liverpool this October, Music Instrument News reported.
