And VST-compatible instrument for Mac and PC in 2020.
QUAD-2 adds an updated user interface, a ribbon controller, more filter types and additional effects. The 16-voice virtual synthesizer uses phase distortion and wave shaper sound-sculpting tools in its two oscillators. Two X-Y control pads in each oscillator can be moved through the modulation matrix or the new ribbon controller.
The update includes 43 filter types, 48 effect types and more than 1,200 presets. Original presets remain available inside the manager. A ribbon modulation matrix provides default amounts in each preset that users can change, with 12 controller slots and an advanced mode for adjusting when addressed parameters respond.
A wave display and User Wave tools allow users to draw their own waveforms or select waveforms in Shaper Mode for each oscillator. The two filters have their own envelopes, and the expanded arpeggiator adds ratcheting, modulation and sequencing modes. QUAD-2 now has three effects rather than two.
The company lists QUAD-2 at $49 or 49 euros, with upgrade options for owners of QUAD and QUAD-RE. The instrument supports Mac and Windows plug-in formats.
