System engineer and crew chief Alexandre Dugas has described using Shure’s WAVETOOL software to monitor approximately 140 microphone channels on tour.

Working with Solotech, Dugas supported a production combining an orchestra with roughly 100 wired microphones and 30 to 40 wireless headworn microphones. The monitoring setup allowed front-of-house, radio-frequency and stage technicians to inspect channels and listen to individual inputs while the performance continued.

The case study describes WAVETOOL 4 as a shared monitoring environment for the crew. Its meters and listening tools helped technicians investigate potential problems without interrupting the main mix or waiting for a break in the show.

The software’s Global Instant Replay function provided access to earlier audio, allowing the team to review an incident after it occurred. The production also used the system during line and microphone checks.

Dugas’ account focuses on managing a large input count and giving technicians a common view of the microphones across departments.
