A Polish cultural venue has equipped its main auditorium with a new sound reinforcement system built around Alcons Audio pro-ribbon loudspeakers, according to ProSoundWeb.

The Chorzowskie Centrum Kultury, which hosts rock concerts, theatrical productions, family entertainment and community events, selected Alcons after evaluating several top-tier systems on the market, venue technical director Tomasz Zorychta told ProSoundWeb.

Alcons’ Polish distributor Aplauz worked with the venue’s technical team on system evaluations and acoustic modeling to address the auditorium’s short, high-ceilinged design, which challenged even sound distribution.

The main system comprises two eight-module LR18 arrays, each with six LR18/90 modules and two LR18/120 modules for different horizontal coverage patterns. Five LR18B subwoofers are arranged in a horizontal cardioid configuration, with the center cabinet facing backward to reduce low-frequency energy onstage. Five Sentinel10 amplified loudspeaker controllers supply 20 individually controlled amplifier channels with DSP processing and loudspeaker protection.

Venue sound engineer Łukasz Giemuła cited pro-ribbon technology as a key factor, noting precise high-frequency coverage from the front row to the back of the auditorium. The system has drawn positive feedback from resident and visiting engineers across the venue’s varied programming, ProSoundWeb reported.
