The Bob Moog Foundation has unveiled “From the Source,” a new interactive livestream series designed to connect audiences directly with influential music technology innovators. According to the foundation, the inaugural event features synthesizer pioneer Dave Rossum in conversation with moderator Marcus Ryle on October 24. This initiative marks part of the organization’s 20th anniversary celebration and targets synth enthusiasts, engineers, and musicians seeking direct engagement with industry figures.
The foundation states the series utilizes an audience-driven format where ticket purchasers submit questions to shape the dialogue. Attendance for the first session is capped at 100 participants via a private Zoom link, with general admission priced at $20 and priority question access available for $40. Rossum, a board member of the foundation, brings over five decades of experience, including co-founding E-mu Systems and developing chips for Sequential Circuits and Korg instruments. Moderator Marcus Ryle, vice president of the foundation’s board, previously co-founded Line 6 and contributed to the recent Oberheim brand relaunch. By limiting capacity, the foundation aims to create an intimate setting for discussing advancements in polyphonic keyboards, sampling, and digital signal processing that have defined the modern electronic instrument market.
