Headstock Group has launched Headstock Music, a dedicated consumer-facing digital platform that will operate separately from its existing distribution business, according to a statement shared with Music Instrument News.

The company told its dealer network that the platform was created to complement established retail channels rather than replace, compete with or bypass them. Headstock Music will focus on under-indexed categories and product ranges not fully represented across the company’s retail partner network, according to the statement.

Headstock Group said individual brands will be presented within dedicated environments that preserve and enhance their unique identity. The platform will not center on product lines fundamental to dealer partners’ success, the company said.

The rollout will be phased and carefully managed, with the company pledging that the consumer platform will not impact service levels, stock availability or fulfilment standards provided to retail partners. Headstock Music will maintain a clear distinction from Headstock Distribution operations.

The company characterized the launch as a response to consumers increasingly discovering and researching brands through digital channels, while brand partners are placing greater emphasis on digital-first engagement and improved online visibility across full product ranges. Headstock Group said strong brands, engaged consumers and successful dealers are mutually dependent and that its objective is to strengthen all three.
