The International Broadcasting Convention (IBC) has initiated a call for submissions for its 2027 Accelerator Media Innovation Program, as reported by audioXpress. The program encourages collaboration among broadcasters, technology providers, startups, and research institutions to tackle practical challenges within the media sector.
According to audioXpress, nine projects will be chosen from the applications received, with a deadline of December 11, 2026. A “Kickstart Day” is planned for London in March to prepare the selected projects. The program’s framework allows for experimentation and public demonstrations, while safeguarding intellectual property rights for all participants.
These collaborative efforts, which began in 2019, pair technology developers with industry “Champions” like the BBC, ITV, and Sky, who define operational needs. The projects will be showcased at IBC2027 in Amsterdam, and will build upon ongoing research in areas such as immersive audio and connectivity.
