Splice has entered the DAW market with Splice Create, now available in beta on Mac, MusicTech reported. The new software lets users search through Splice’s millions of royalty-free sounds from within a single DAW environment, eliminating the need to switch between a browser and a separate DAW when hunting for samples.
MusicTech reported that Splice Create includes preset shortcut layouts matching Ableton Live, FL Studio, Pro Tools and other popular DAWs to ease transitions for users switching platforms. The software also features an AI creative assistant that can carry out instructions such as adding instrument tracks, answer production questions and take on tedious tasks like organising projects by grouping tracks into drum, bass or effects groups. Voice control is supported as an alternative to typing.
Splice CEO Kakul Srivastava said the product is designed for creators who feel blocked by existing tools, positioning Create as a studio that helps users make music rather than making it for them. UK producer Skepta endorsed the platform, crediting a Splice breakbeat with completing a Chase & Status collaboration.
The launch follows Splice’s recent releases of generative AI tools and the Splice Instrument player.
