Konzerthaus Freiburg has equipped its Rolf Böhme Saal with a new Alcons Audio sound system designed to deliver high speech intelligibility and feedback stability for diverse events. According to LSi Online, the venue selected the manufacturer’s Pro-Ribbon technology after a comparative evaluation against three other competitors conducted by integrator Rock Shop, a division of fein.media GmbH.
The installed configuration features 24 LR18 double 8-inch Pro-Ribbon line-array modules, supplemented by VR8 out-fills, VR5 front fills, and BF302mkII subwoofers. LSi Online reports that eight Sentinel10 and three Sentinel3 amplified loudspeaker controllers power the main system, while additional mobile components support flexible applications. The selection process prioritized gain-before-feedback performance and consistent coverage, particularly for corporate events utilizing open microphones.
Rock Shop executed the installation with the array positioned directly behind the stage edge, a challenging placement requiring precise projection without compromising sonic transparency. The technical team at Konzerthaus Freiburg noted that the LR18 system provided superior precision and practical usability compared to other tested options. Since deployment, users and event organizers have praised the solution for its natural reproduction and reliable performance across classical concerts and conferences, validating the venue’s investment in the specialized ribbon-driver architecture.
