Behringer’s Polyeight analog polyphonic synthesizer is now available through retailer Thomann at a price of €519, gearnews reported. The instrument reaches the market after five years.
The manufacturer based the Polyeight on the Korg Polysix, a programmable polyphonic synthesizer originally released in 1981, gearnews reported. Behringer expanded the design with two additional voices, bringing the total to eight, and added front-panel controls including portamento and additional LFO waveforms. The company also reworked the patch system with a small screen, the source noted.
Behringer built the Polyeight on its new ARM platform, which the company says will reduce development times and bring more synthesizers to market faster, gearnews reported. For the most part, it is still the same analog synthesizer.
The original Polysix distinguished itself with built-in chorus, ensemble and phaser effects that broadened its sonic range, according to the source. gearnews noted that some users have commented the Polyeight could benefit from a stereo output.
