Boutique manufacturer SHIK has begun shipping its S32 MIDI controller, a 32-knob unit with a built-in MIDI effects engine and a companion MIDI-to-CV Eurorack module, according to a gearnews report. The controller is now available through Thomann for $525, £475 or €559.
Gearnews reports that each of the S32’s high-resolution knobs functions as a macro capable of sending four types of MIDI messages simultaneously, including 14-bit CC, NRPN, program change and SysEx. The built-in effects engine includes a harmonizer, scale remap, arpeggiator, Turing Machine, envelope, Euclidean sequencer, looper, delay, randomizer, filters, mergers and routers, with chainable racks.
The S32 also includes an LFO engine that can animate CC outputs for external hardware and chain LFOs to modulate each other. The all-metal enclosure features a 3.12-inch OLED screen, two buttons and an endless encoder, with patch storage on internal flash memory and microSD support. Connectivity includes USB MIDI, one MIDI in, two MIDI outs, a MIDI thru, a micro HDMI port for the companion module and USB host.
SHIK’s separately sold CV16 Eurorack module adds 16 channels of 16-bit MIDI-to-CV output with switchable voltage ranges and its own LFO engine, gearnews reports. The S32 follows the company’s N32B Slim controller, which sells for $339.
