Tascam has revealed the AP-10, a new two-channel announcement SD player intended for automated audio playback in various commercial and public settings. According to Tascam, the device’s design facilitates integration with external control systems, sensors, and timers through GPIO and LAN-based Open Sound Control (OSC). Sean Daily, a product specialist at Tascam, noted the unit’s suitability for environments where dependable, automated audio is critical.
The AP-10 provides users with five playback modes, including Direct, Single, Interval, Binary, and Program. The Binary mode can manage up to 250 audio files, making it useful for multilingual guidance or zone-specific announcements. Program mode enables preset audio sequences for guided tours or demonstrations. Audio playback can be initiated manually or triggered remotely.
Users can create and modify playlists offline using Tascam’s complimentary Playlist Editor software, allowing for detailed configuration of individual files, including volume, intervals, delays, and fade times. The device itself is housed in a 1U half-rack metal chassis, incorporating a protected SD card cover, a Euroblock cable holder, and a panel lock. Optional rack-mounting accessories are also available.
