Behringer has unveiled the Polyeight, an unofficial copy of the Korg Polysix, expanded with two additional voices and expanded modulation options. Preorders are open at $699 USD.
Synthtopia reported that the Polyeight pairs an analog signal path built on VCO, VCF and VCA designs with a 2044 low-pass filter and BBD-based chorus, phaser and ensemble effects. The 49-key keyboard features semi-weighted full-size keys with channel aftertouch and velocity sensitivity.
The synthesizer offers unison, double and poly modes, enabling eight-VCO lead sounds, massive bass tones, four-voice double configurations or eight-voice single-VCO patches. Additional sound-shaping tools include a sub-oscillator with up to two octaves down, pulse width modulation via a multi-waveform LFO, and a global noise generator inspired by the Korg MS-20.
Performance features include an arpeggiator with manual and external tempo control, chord memory, polyphonic portamento, an eight-slot modulation matrix, an LCD display with encoder, assignable preset recall switches and 256 user program memories with a compare-and-match function for syncing analog controls to stored values.
