Image-Line has released FL Studio Mobile 5, a major revision to its iOS and Android music production app, introducing built-in access to FL Cloud Sounds, interface updates and new editing features for phone and tablet production.
According to synthtopia, the update is available now through the Apple App Store and Google Play. Existing owners receive it free under Image-Line’s Lifetime Free Updates policy.
Thousands of FL Cloud Sounds are available at no additional cost to all users, while the full library of more than two million sounds requires an eligible FL Cloud subscription, synthtopia reports.
The source notes that the app still lacks AUv3 support, a feature present in nearly every other actively developed iOS host or DAW. Image-Line has indicated the feature is not on its roadmap, which synthtopia suggests reflects a preference for selling proprietary plug-ins over supporting third-party options.
The new version contains enhanced IAA support, according to synthtopia, though the source describes that protocol as largely unused because Apple has deprecated it and it offers no state saving capability.
