Jean-Michel Jarre is marking the 50th anniversary of his landmark electronic album Oxygene with a new edition that includes a stereo remaster sourced from the original tapes and the album’s first Dolby Atmos presentation, according to Synthtopia. The release is scheduled for November 20, 2026, with pre-orders available through Amazon and limited-edition versions offered via Jarre’s own site.
The anniversary edition returns to the original 1976 recordings, which Jarre composed and recorded in his Paris home studio using analogue instruments and tape. Synthtopia reported that Jarre said the remaster aims to preserve the depth, movement and life of the original sound rather than change it, and that he believes this new version is the most true to what he originally created.
Oxygene was first released in France at the end of 1976 before reaching international audiences in 1977, and it went on to become the best-selling instrumental electronic music album of all time.
