MusiMap has released a music intelligence platform designed to aid broadcasters, music supervisors, and rights holders in managing and finding music. According to audioXpress, the system combines automated machine learning with manual analysis from music experts to provide deeper insights into music catalogs.

The newly launched suite addresses the limitations of traditional metadata, which often focuses on artist, title, and genre. MusiMap expands on this by incorporating structured attributes that describe the emotional content, listening environments, cultural significance, and acoustic qualities of recordings. The company noted that the technology builds upon four decades of research from musicologist Pierre Lebecque and was developed internally by a team of over 60 specialists.

The MusiMap suite includes MusiTag, MusiSearch, MusiProfile, and MusiTrace. MusiTag, for example, assigns over 300 attributes to each track, while MusiSearch allows users to locate music based on emotional profiles or cultural context. The platform has already tagged more than 125 million tracks since 2015 and offers coverage across more than 120 genres.

Ty Roberts, former Universal Music Group Chief Technology Officer and Gracenote co-founder, has joined MusiMap as Chief Commercial Officer, coinciding with the launch.
